Telangana to Release Over Rs 2,000 Crore for Farm Loan Waiver

The state government had already released Rs 2,045 crore earlier this fiscal year, Special Chief Secretary of Finance K Pradeep Chandra said.

HYDERABAD: The Telangana government is set to release Rs 2,050 crore towards the farm loan waiver scheme this week, a senior government official said here today.

The state government had already released Rs 2,045 crore earlier this fiscal year, Special Chief Secretary of Finance K Pradeep Chandra said.

"With this tranche, half of the amount under the farm loan waiver scheme would be met. We released over Rs 4,100 crore during last year. The total amount under the scheme would be Rs 17,500 crore," the official said.

Meanwhile, Telangana Finance Minister E Rajender said that revenue receipts achieved for the state till date are up by 95 per cent of the target.

He said that the contribution sales tax to the overall Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) is at 6.61 per cent, thus making it the top position among other states in that category.
