Mallepally is Buddhavanam Special Officer

HYDERABAD: Two senior journalists were given nominated posts by Telangana state government on Tuesday.

Mallepally Laxmaiah, who took an active part in the separate Telangana movement, was appointed as special officer for Buddhavanam Project at Nagarjuna Sagar in Nalgonda district with immediate effect.

Buddhavanam will be developed as an international centre aimed at attracting Buddhists from all over the world. A separate body will be constituted for it with Laxmaiah as special officer.

Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao also decided to appoint Devulapalli Prabhakar as chairman of Telangana Adhikara Bhasha Sangham. Prabhakar will be in the post for one year and hold cabinet-rank status.

In another move, the chief minister appointed Vemula Prasanth Reddy, MLA, as vice-chairman of Mission Bhagiratha. He will hold the cabinet-rank post for three years.
