HYDERABAD: Taking a strong objection to police releasing posters with photographs of some of the members of their organisation, the Telangana State Civil Liberties Committee (CLC) and AP Chaitanya Mahila Sangham will jointly organise protests in front of the district collectorates in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The members are alleged to be working for Maoists.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Thursday, Telangana CLC president Laxman said that the AP police deliberately printed some posters on which the pictures of Chaitanya Mahila Sangham members Satraj, Devendra, Si lpa, Sipora, Padma Rajeswari and others, and circulated them among colleges stating that these women were working for Maoists. The posters asked students to avoid meeting these women if they visited the colleges.

“The governments in the two Telugu states want to suppress the voices of social organisations by putting out false reports that these organisations are working for Maoists. The two governments are trying to brand those organisations as anti-social,” Laxman alleged. CLC general secretary Narasinga Rao said that the Telangana police deliberately sealed the office of Arunodaya Cultural Association run by Vimalakka at Domalguda here. “Police, who sealed the office illegally at the behest of the state government, must show proof of any illegal activity.” he demanded.
