Two More TDP MLAs to Join TRS

Express News Service

HYDERABAD: The exodus of Telugu Desam leaders into the TRS is going unabated as two more MLAs of the TDP, both from Greater Hyderabad, are all set to join the ruling party in the next couple of days.

If these two join the TRS, the TTDP will have just three elected MLAs, just one of them from the capital, in its kitty. The TTDP won 15 Assembly seats in the 2014 elections.

Maganti Gopinath and Arekapudi Gandhi  are learnt to have met Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao at the latter’s camp office here on Tuesday and expressed their willingness to join the TRS.

Gopinath is the party’s Greater Hyderabad unit president and represents the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency while Gandhi represents the Serilingampally Assembly constituency.

Ever since Gopinath’s name cropped up in the cash-for-vote scam, there have been reports that he will be joining the ruling party. Gandhi too has been said to be in contact with TRS leaders for long and has been waiting for an opportunity to cross over to the TRS.

“The two MLAs are likely to join the TRS in the city on March 11 when the Assembly will be in session,” a TRS leader said.

The TTDP will be left with just three MLAs _ A Revanth Reddy, Sandra Venkata Veeraiah and R Krishnaiah.

Cong MLA Too in Touch with TRS?

TRS sources have claimed that a Congress MLA from Rangareddy district is also in touch with its leaders and is all set to join the party.
