HYDERABAD: Opposition parties — Congress, BJP and TDP, have tried to push the state government into a corner, following heavy downpour in the state Capital, which almost created a havoc like situation in Hyderabad on Wednesday.
The three parties held that the state government was responsible for the water-logging, inundation of low-lying areas and traffic woes that occurred in here in the aftermath of torrential rains.
“This government has been making tall claims of turning Hyderabad into a world-class city. But, it is unable to take minimum precautionary measures during rains, because of which denizens of Hyderabad suffered a lot during the downpour occurred on Wednesday and Thursday in the city,” Congress leader Mohammed Ali Shabbir and TDP spokesperson N Narsi Reddy criticised.
They even questioned the government why it had failed to chalk out a contingency plan to face rains during monsoon.
BJP went one step further and said it would take up an agitation under, the name ‘Shehar Bachavo’ to exert pressure on the government to improve basic infrastructure in the city.
“The government has utterly failed to take minimum measures to maintain the basic infrastructure in the city. GHMC authorities’ failure in removing silt from drains and sewers had led to water-logging of roads and submergence of low-lying areas,” BJP leader Kishan Reddy claimed.
