HYDERABAD: Deputy chief minister (Revenue) K Srihari has said that the government will take steps to bring an album of Goreti Venkanna’s songs.
Addressing a function after presenting the Kaloji Narayana Rao award to Goreti Venkanna marking the 102nd birth anniversary of Kaloji here on Friday, Srihari said he would recommend to the chief minister to present a doctorate from Telugu University to Venkanna.
Goreti Venkanna’s songs inspired not only Telangana people but all the Telugus across the globe, Srihari said adding there is need to preserve Goreti’s songs for future generations. The minister said the works on the Kaloji Kalakshetram in Warangal are going on at a brisk pace. Finance minister E Rajender said people’s poet Goreti’s songs would be alive forever. Home minister N Narasimha Reddy and others spoke on the occasion. Responding to the presentation of Kaloji award, Goreti said he was very humbled to receive the Kaloji award. “I am always among the people. People are my strength,” he said. Thanking chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for bestowing the award on him, Goretisaid that he would follow the footsteps of Kaloji.
