Water-logged Warangal takes up rescue ops

WARANGAL: Heavy rains have left parts of Warangal looking like pools, forcing collector Vakati Karuna to set up a control room to rescue people in the flooded areas.

The collector, accompanied by police commissioner G Sudheer Babu, Mayor N Narender and municipal commissioner Sarfaraz Ahmed, visited several colonies which were inundated. NTR Nagar Colony has remained water-logged for two days.

Rescue operations are underway in 48 colonies which are said to be severely affected. As many as seven relief camps have been set up in the city. 

The Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation has set up a control room. Educational Institutions have announced holidays.
