HYDERABAD: In a move to prevent middlemen from eating into the profits of paddy farmers, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday announced that the state government would soon give export permits to farmers so that they can get minimum support price for their produce.
At a day long orientation programme for staff of agriculture department at a HICC convention centre on Tuesday, Rao said the government would soon constitute farmers federation at village, mandal, district and state level. “The village or mandal level federation will negotiate the price for agriculture produce with traders and the federation would coordinate and ensure that farmers sell their produce at the rate fixed by them,” Rao said.
If a trader quotes lesser price which is not remunerative to the farmer, the state government would give export permits of rice to the farmers’ federation from next year.
The CM directed the Agriculture Extension Officers (AEOs) to collect details of farmers including their bank accounts and others. This would help eliminate those having fake passbooks and only genuine beneficiaries would get Rs 4,000 cash incentive.
