HYDERABAD: Prof M Kodandaram, leading light of the Telangana separate state movement, has initiated the formation of a civil society organization to campaign against corruption in the fledgling state.
Named Telangana Against Corruption (TAC), the group said the democratic space has been shrinking ever since the new government was elected in Telangana and the political parties in the opposition are at a loss how to counter it. The group described itself as non-political group with the express objective of sensitizing the citizen about the goings on in the state.
The TAC will from time to time set up citizens’ tribunals to examine specific issues. Alongside Prof Kodandaram, the initiators of Telangana Against Corruption (TAC) are K Chandrasekhar, High Court advocate and leader of the 1969 Telangana movement, Zaheer Uddin Ali Khan, social activist and senior journalist, G Vidyadhar Reddy, a former IRS officer and advocate, and Kingshuk Nag, author and journalist.
