HYDERABAD: Even as there is harsh criticism from opposition parties over the way he is spending public money to fulfil his religious vows taken during Telangana movement, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is all set to present a gold moustache to Lord Veerabhadra Swamy in Kuravi in Mahbubabad district to fulfil his vow.

After presenting necklace and haram to Lord Venkateswara Swamy in Tirupati on Wednesday, the chief minister will visit Kuravi temple on Friday on the occasion of Maha Sivaratri.
On his way to Kuravi, the chief minister will at first make a stopover at Keesara, another famous Siva temple in Rangareddy district. He will perform special pooja at Keesara Sri Ramalingeswara Swamy Temple.

Later, from there, he will proceed to Sri Veerabhadra Swamy Temple in Kuravi in Mahabubabad district. At 10.15 am, the chief minister will present golden moustache to Sri Veerabhadra Swamy and fulfil his vow, according to an official release issued here on Thursday.

In fact, visiting Kuravi is the fourth such pilgrimage by K Chandrasekhar Rao to fulfil his vows to various gods for realising the long-cherished dreams of Telangana to have their own state. Rao will soon visit Vijayawada to present gold nose stud to Goddess Kanaka Durga, atop Indrakeeladri.

Against this backdrop, opposition parties on Thursday also continued their critical remarks at the Chief Minister’s act of fulfilling his religious vows with public money. It is not appropriate for the chief minister to spend tax payers’ money on his religious vows by not fulfilling the promises made to various sections of people, Congress veteran V Hanumantha Rao said.

“We don’t object to CM’s religious beliefs. However, he should fulfil all his vows with his own money but not with public money,” CPM state secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram commented.
