HYDERABAD: On the eve of the presidential election, which is scheduled to be held on Monday, not only BJP and its ally TDP but also TRS began taking precautions to ensure that their respective MLAs and MPs vote for NDA’s candidate Ram Nath Kovind.

Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday held a meeting with his party MLAs and MPs here and directed them to vote for the NDA nominee. He organised a mock polling to ensure that all TRS MLAs and MPs would cast their vote perfectly.

While health minister K Laxma Reddy and a few other legislators did not turn up, Mohammed Shakil Aamir, MLA from Bodhan, could not cast his vote on the column marked for NDA nominee. CM K Chandrasekhar Rao, who wants all his party legislators and MPs to cast their vote for Kovind without fail, expressed displeasure at absence of minister and a few legislators.

According to sources, an enraged Rao ordered his party MLAs, including all ministers to attend the final round of mock polling to be held at Telangana Bhavan on Monday morning without fail. After taking part in the “final rehearsal”, all the TRS legislators will reach the Assembly for voting which will begin at 10 am on Monday.

Earlier in the day, TDP leaders led by A Revanth Reddy and BJP leaders led by K Laxman and G Kishan Reddy held a meeting on the Assembly premises and discussed the strategy for ensuring that the MLAs of their parties would not err while voting.
