HYDERABAD: Work on the fibre grid will commence in areas where piped drinking water connection will be given shortly. The ducts are ready for a length of 10,000 km where Mission Bhagiratha water pipelines have been laid so far.

Officials of Mission Bhagiratha and IT department gave a joint demonstration on Fibre Grid at a conference of superintending engineers here on Friday. “We will start fibre grid work in areas where piped water supply will commence,” Mission Bhagiratha engineer-in-chief Surender Reddy said.

“Bhagiratha works will be completed by the end of this year end as per the deadline,” he said and added that all clearances, including forest, were obtained for piped water supply project. Of the 49,159-km transmission water pipelines to be laid for the water grid project, pipelines to a length of 36,000 km have been laid so far.
