HYDERABAD: A division bench of the Hyderabad High Court on Tuesday directed Telangana government to file an affidavit informing about the steps taken against those responsible for Miyapur land scam and details with regard to sale transactions after the ban imposed by the Supreme Court.
The bench of Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganthan and Justice T Rajani was passing this direction in a PIL case filed by M Raghunandan Rao, advocate and BJP leader.
The petitioner sought a direction to the state government to transfer the case to CBI for a free, fair and transparent probe into the case. Though the SC had restrained the registrations of all transactions pertaining to lands in survey numbers 20, 28, 100 and 101 in October 2014, about 700 acres of land have been sold off through illegal registrations by some private companies and also availed huge bank loans based upon those sale deeds. The investigation by local police is going astray and the CBI must take over the case to bring out facts, he added.
Special counsel for TS Sanjeev Kumar said the sub-registrars concerned have been suspended and the police have registered cases. The government has been taking steps in the case. At present, the case is under progress, he added.The bench directed the government to place on record the details of sales after the SC orders and about the action taken against the officers who sold and purchased the lands and how much money changed hands and other related details to be submitted.
The bench posted the matter to August 1 for further hearing.
