Pre-monsoon rains lash parts of Telanagana, temperature dips

HYDERABAD: Pre-monsoon showers were witnessed on Tuesday in various parts of the state bringing the maximum temperatures down.

While maximum temperatures used to be recorded above 40 degree Celsius till couple of days ago, the highest recorded on Tuesday was 39.8 degree celsius in Ramagundam followed by 39.6 degree celsius in Adilabad, 38.4 degree celsius in Nizamabad and 37.6 degree celsius in Medak. In Hyderabad, it was recorded at 37.2 degree celsius. 

Few places in Hyderabad witnessed very light rainfall, with maximum being recorded in Saidabad. The IMD said that heavy rain is very likely to occur at isolated places in all the districts of Telangana from June 8-10. The India Meteorological Department said that conditions are favourable for the southwest monsoon to enter AP in the next three days after which monsoon will begin in Telangana.

On Tuesday, maximum rainfall was witnessed in Ananthagiri in Suryapet district at 84 mm followed by 76.3 mm in Sirkonda, Nizamabad district and 60mm at Penpahad, Suryapet district. Rainfall between 20-60 mm was seen in erstwhile Adilabad. 

Officials told to finish work before monsoon
 

In view of onset of monsoon, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) commissioner B Janardhan Reddy directed the engineering officials of the corporation and Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) to expedite restoration works.

Janardhan Reddy along with managing director M Dana Kishore and officials of both the departments inspected the ongoing water pipeline and road restoration works which are underway. While on inspection, Reddy interacted with the engineering officials and directed them to take up the restoration works keeping in view of the onset of monsoon.
