HYDERABAD: It was an altogether different scene at Dharna Chowk on Monday, which witnessed a direct confrontation between the members of Left Parties and locals.

Even as some locals picked a fight with the activists of Left Parties, some locals were seen offering water to the protesting workers of Left Parties.

“None of the locals opposed our Dharna. In fact, some of them provided water to the workers. This is a clear example of how even the residents of the area are backing the protest,” CPM State secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram said.

Later, CPI state secretary Chada Venkat Reddy explained the reason behind the clashes during the protest. He said police, who gave permission for anti and pro Dharna Chowk relocation groups on Monday morning, provided security to local’s dharna whereas they did not allow the workers of Left Parties to enter the Chowk.
