TPCC vice president Sridhar Babu  joins Nerella victims’ hunger strike in Karimnagar

KARIMNAGAR: TPCC vice president and former minister D Sridhar Babu said acts of injustice are continuing against Dalits, tribals and weaker sections in the state due to the government’s attitude towards them. To open the eyes of the government, Congress is holding hunger strikes in Karimnagar as part of an action plan, he said. Protesting against the government’s inaction about the atrocities on Dalits and tribals, Congress began relay hunger strike here five days ago. On Wednesday, former minister D Sridhar sat on hunger strike camp along with Nerella victims.

He said a series of atrocities happened against Dalits but the government has not yet reviewed the atrocities to explore solutions. Congerss will support the Dalits, tribals and weaker sections, and with this determination it is beginning its fight against the anti-Dalit policies of the government, he said. 
He blamed the government for neglecting to ensure medical treatment to Nerella victims. He added that IT Minister KT Rama Rao should apologise to the victims.

He also listed the atrocities committed against Dalits in Manthani and Manakondur. Penta Banaiah, a Nerella victim, told media that if the government failed to ensure facilities and meet their demands they are ready to participate in protests anywhere in the state to expose the injustices of the government. Victims who were discharged from NIMS are supporting Congress leaders sitting along with them.  
Congress MLC T Santhosh Kumar, TPCC SC Cell chairman Arepalli Mohan and several local leaders from Karimnagar and Peddapalli visited the hunger strike camp and extended their solidarity.
