HYDERABAD: Following allegations by a private employee that Vanasthalipuram inspector S Murali Krishna and sub-inspector A Ravinder Reddy were trying to favour a private financier who was harassing him to pay additional money apart from the agreed money, an enquiry has been ordered by LB Nagar DCP M Venkateshwar Rao on Tuesday.
In June 2013, Swarna and Kishan Reddy of Mall village had taken a loan of Rs 20 lakh from one K Buchi Reddy, a businessman, by making a GPA of a six-acre land belonging to Suwarna in the name of Buchi Reddy.
They reportedly accepted to pay Rs 40,000 towards interest before making a GPA, but Buchi Reddy had later demanded Rs 72,000 per month. By October 2016, the couple had paid Rs 60 lakh including the principal amount to Buchi Reddy, but he refused to give back the land documents and demanded Rs 14 lakh more.
After failed efforts to convince him, Suwarna and Kishan Reddy, met Rachakonda police commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat and sought justice. Further, the Vanasthalipuram police were asked to look into the matters. However, the victims alleged that the police were favouring the financier by pressurising them to pay the money demanded by the financier.
Suwarna's son Venkat Reddy said "We have paid more than the amount that was accepted during the agreement, but still Buchi Reddy did not give the land documents. The inspector and sub-inspector are asking us to pay Rs 14 lakh to Buchi Reddy and settle the issue, which is why we met LB Nagar DCP and complained."
DCP M Venkateshwar Rao ordered an enquiry by Vanasthalipuram ACP V Ravinder Reddy against Vanasthalipuram inspector S Murali Krishna and SI A Ravinder Reddy and submit a report at the earliest.
Vanasthalipuram ACP V Ravinder Reddy said "Prime facie, it is found that both the parties have earlier tried to settle the issue, but they could not, and then approached the police. An inquiry is going on the allegations against the inspector and the SI. Based on the outcome, further action will be taken."
