HYDERABAD: Nine persons were killed in a ghastly road accident involving two cars in Wanaparthy district of Telangana State on Wednesday morning.
The accident took place when the driver of one of the car, proceeding towards Kurnool from Hyderabad, lost control over the steering. The vehicle initially rammed into a road divider and landed on the other side of the road where it was hit by another car coming from the opposite direction.
According to police officials, the car was apparently being driven at a high speed.
With the impact of the collision, the two vehicles got damaged severely and rescue workers had to toil for more than an hour to remove the mangled parts of the vehicles, dead bodies and also severely injured out of the vehicle.
Seven of the occupants died on the spot, while two others died while undergoing treatment at Mahbubnagar government hospital. All the deceased are residents of Hyderabad and Wanaparthy districts.
