HYDERABAD: Investigating the alleged irregularities in issuing certificates to candidates for securing medical seats under sports quota, the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Friday arrested the general secretary of Telangana State Judo Association, Kailasam Yadav, for accepting a bribe of `2 lakh.
The ACB officials have registered a fresh case against Sports Authority of Telangana State former deputy director G Venkata Ramana and Kailsam Yadav for reportedly demanding `4 lakh as bribe from a candidate.

Hours after the agency registered cases, officials conducted raids at the office of Telangana State Judo Association at LB Stadium complex in Basheerbagh, and residence of Association secretary Kailsam Yadav at Warangal.

During the investigation, officials found out that of the 12 MBBS seats meant for sports quota during 2017-18, one seat was reserved for a non-local candidate. Out of the 11 seats meant for Telangana students, seven were bagged by students of Warangal and the remaining four were given under sports quota to Judo players.

Yadav allegedly colluded with former deputy director Venkata Ramana and collected bribe from parents for issuing recommendation letters for medical seats for these students under the sports quota.

One Thota Sunil Kumar, father of a student Rudraswaroop, who got an MBBS seat under sports quota, lodged a complaint with ACB officials against Yadav. Based on this, the ACB officials registered a fresh case against Venkata Ramana and Kailsam Yadav under prevention of Corruption Act.
