SIDDIPET: Even TRS, with its aggressive election campaign and boisterous leaders, is not brave enough to venture into the fifteen villages that will be submerged by the Mallanna Sagar and Konda Pochamma reservoirs. Of the 15 villages in Siddipet district, seven of them come under Gajwel constituency, represented in the previous Assembly by none other than TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao himself. The other villages fall under Dubbak constituency.

Many of the residents of these villages are farmers who barely manage to eke out a living. The government had promised them compensation for these lands but most of the oustees say they haven’t seen a penny of this money and that they are also dissatisfied with the promised amount. Harish Rao, senior TRS leader, who has been given the responsibility to campaign in the region has never visited these villages. Though Rao visited Gajwel to campaign for his uncle, he chose to stay clear from 15 villages.

Meanwhile, Gajwel-based Congress leader V Pratap Reddy has tried to milk the issue to his party’s advantage. “With what face will the ruling party come here? TRS might have abandoned you, but Congress will not do that. We will make sure you get the compensation amount,” V Pratap Reddy, Congress leader said.

Similarly, Erravelli Sarpanch Narasimha Reddy tells people, “We thought that when Telangana was formed, it will be great for us. But, on the contrary, the government has drowned us.” Many of the farmers are also angry with TRS for one other reason: Since most of the land was never registered to anyone, farmers have been denied investment support under Rythu Bandhu. Speaking to Express, a member of TRS admitted that they were facing serious opposition from the people in these villagers.

TRS receives flak over proposed helipad near KCR’s residence
Karimnagar:
A notification schedule issued for land acquisition to construct a helipad near TRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao’s residence, which popularly known as North Telangana Bhawan, in Teegalaguttapalli on the outskirts of Karimnagar rural mandal has turned into a huge controversy. On October 2, the District Collector issued a notification for land acquisition of 15.14 acres of farmers land (Survey No. 232) to construct the helipad.  Criticising the move, TPCC working president Ponnam Prabhakar said questioned how land can be acquired to construct a helipad near CM’s residence as it is for his own benefit and not for the sake of public or the government.

Cops stop kin of Telangana martyrs from protesting against TRS
Siddipet:
Gajwel police on Sunday blocked a campaign led by families of people martyred in the Telangana movement to protest against the TRS government’s treatment towards them. Telangana Amara Veerula Family Members United Forum and Telangana Movement United Forum, consisting of 14 families, held a campaign at Gajwel constituency headquarters to protest against the Telangana government which, according to them, had ignored their welfare for nearly four-and-a-half years. The police came to know about the programme and rushed to the spot to tell the protestors that they did not have permission to conduct the meeting. This flared up the protestors’ tempers even further.
