NIZAMABAD: A delegation of the All India Turmeric Farmers Association (AITA) on Saturday met Rakesh Thikayath, president of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU), in Muzzafarupur of Uttar Pradesh, seeking his organisation’s support with regard to building support for their demand of bringing the turmeric crop under the Minimum Support Price (MSP) regime.

Earlier, nearly 50 farmers from Nizamabad had travelled to Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh to take on Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is seeking re-election there. AITA’s national president Deivasigamani and State president Narasimha Naidu are meeting as many farmers’ bodies as possible to drum up support for their  movement.
