HYDERABAD: Train services were disrupted near Shankarpally in Chevella mandal of Rangareddy district on Thursday morning after a woman drove her car onto the railway tracks, affecting the movement of four passenger trains and four goods trains.

Police identified the woman as Vomika Soni, 35, a native of Lucknow, who had recently lost her IT job in Hyderabad. Officials said she was mentally distressed since losing her job.

According to railway staff, the car was spotted around 9 am on the tracks between Nagulapalli and Shankarpally. Despite attempts to stop her, she continued driving, forcing railway officials to halt an oncoming train. The car was eventually stopped with the help of local residents.

When asked to exit the car, Soni refused and attempted to flee. Railway staff and locals broke the windows to pull her out. She was detained until the arrival of Shankarpally police.

Shankarpally Inspector Srinivas Goud said the woman was aggressive and appeared to be in an unstable state. She allegedly threw stones at police and bystanders, injuring a few before being subdued.

Police sent her for medical examination to check if she was under the influence of alcohol.
