BHUPALPALLY: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday morning conducted raids at the residence of Bhupalpally District Mines Assistant Director Bojja Jayaraj in Bhupalpally town, after suspecting that he had amassed assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The searches resulted in the detection of assets worth Rs 3,06,53,177 at government valuation, according to the ACB.
Their estimated market value is around Rs 100 crore. The assets include house properties, agricultural land, gold ornaments, three four-wheelers and household articles.
Searches at 9 premises linked to mines official
The ACB sleuths conducted searches at Jayaraj’s residence and at eight other premises linked to him, his family members and his office in Bhupalpally, Hanamkonda, Hyderabad and Warangal districts.
According to an ACB press release, Warangal Range Deputy Superintendent of Police P Sambaiah said Jayaraj had allegedly acquired disproportionate assets by indulging in corrupt practices. A case was registered under Section 13(1)(b) read with Section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, as amended in 2018.
During the searches, the officials also examined information available on the mobile phone of S Yadaiah, the driver of Jayaraj. The ACB found that Rs 24.38 lakh had been transferred in multiple transactions from Jayaraj’s account to Yadaiah’s bank account.
Yadaiah allegedly told the officials that the money had been collected from persons involved in sand transportation and related activities and subsequently transferred to the account of Jayaraj’s daughter.
The case is under investigation. Jayaraj was taken into custody and produced before a court, Sambaiah said.
