Advocate stabbed to death by gang

CHENNAI: An Advocate Who was also the panchayat union secretary of Puratchi Bharatham was stabbed to death by a gang near a tank at Athiyathur village, Thiruvallur district about 42 km from Chennai.

T Velaiyutham, the advocate practising in Thiruvallur court, had gone for his morning walk. “As he did not return home even after 8.30 am, the time he usually got back, his family was worried and tried to reach him on his mobile phone. As the calls went unanswered, they began looking for him. Meanwhile, a local resident saw Velaiyutham’s body with stab injuries near a tank about 500m from his home,” said police.
The police were alerted and they came and sent the body to Government hospital for autopsy. Police suspect the murder resulted from previous enmity. A case has been registered at Kadambathur police station.

In another case, a body of a youth was found near a tank at Paruva Rajapuram in Thiruvallur district. K Venkadesian (25) of the same locality was found dead near the tank on Tuesday morning. The police said he worked as an agent for a cement company. A case was registered and a probe begun.
