CHENNAI: The Madras High Court has directed the SP, ‘Q’ branch to secure a woman who is said to be a Maoist in Erode.

A division bench gave the direction on Friday, while passing interim orders on a habeas corpus petition from Vivek of Madurai, who alleged that his wife Padma (45) had been picked up by the Andhra police in plainclothes near Chennimalai at gun-point on July 3 last.

Earlier, additional public prosecutor VMR Rajendran told the bench that Padma involved in several criminal cases was absconding.

The bench then directed the SP, ‘Q’ branch to secure her and posted the matter for further hearing on September 14.
