Venkat Prabhu plays an evil cop in Kalavu, a crime thriller, directed by Murali Karthick, starring Kalaiyarasan and Karunakaran in the lead. The crew has finished shooting Venkat’s portions in the city recently. Murali says, “When I approached him for the role, he was a bit apprehensive as it was a negative role. But we convinced him.” Also, Karunakaran plays a character role, Murali reveals.

The film is reportedly about a couple of incidents that he had read in newspapers. “How one incident changes the lives of the main characters is what the story is about,” he says. Abhirami Iyer, Pandiarajan, Chinni Jayanth and Mime Gopi are also a part of the supporting cast.

Meanwhile, Venkat is also busy with his second production venture that is directed by Saravanan Rajan, and has Vaibhav, Sana Althaf, Sampath in important roles.

Touted to be a political satire, the film has brother Premgi as well as other regulars like editor Praveen KL and costume designer Vasuki Bhaskar on board. The announcement posters for the film, released by Venkat via his Twitter handle, appear to parody posters of political parties that announce the name of their candidates for elections.
