HYDERABAD: Investigation into two of the major cases that shook the state over the last year - encounter of gangster Md Nayeemuddin and his alleged nexus of corrupt bureaucrats and politicians and the TS EAMCET II question paper leak which found its links to various states, will come to an end soon, director general of police Anurag Sharma said on Thursday.

Speaking at the annual pressmeet of state police, he said an Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by additional DGP rank and IG rank officers are reviewing the progress of investigation in Nayeem case while the Crime Investigation Department (CID) officials led by IG Sowmya Mishra is monitoring the TS EAMCET II question paper leak cases.

The DGP, however, pointed out that there was a significant decrease in the incidents of murder for gain, burglaries and ordinary thefts in the state, while there is a marginal increase in robbery owing to registration of cases, chain snatching under robbery where victims suffered physical injuries. Overall crime rate has been gone down.
