GADKOL (NIZAMABAD) : Disapproving of state government’s ‘obsession’ with major irrigation projects, BJP national general secretary P Muralidhar Rao advised Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to utilise local water bodies to provide water to agricultural lands every district, instead of constructing huge irrigation projects, ‘which will have negative impact on the environment and exchequer.’The BJP leader preferred to openly oppose state government’s efforts to construct huge lift irrigation projects. This move comes at a time when TRS is organising tours for IAS officers in Hyderabad to visit Kaleshwaram irrigation project, to study its progress.

Almost joining chorus with TJAC, BJP leader suggested the government to construct check dams and minor reservoirs by utilising local water bodies to improve irrigation facilities. “These projects will complete with minimum budget and can provide water to a vast extent of area,” Rao said.
