 After two postponements, the district administration has decided to perform Panagal festival on a grand note in February.

NALGONDA: After two postponements, the district administration has decided to perform Panagal festival on a grand note in February.  The historical place of Panagal is located on the outskirts of Nalgonda town and it comes under Nalgonda municipality.Earlier, the  district administration had announced two different months and dates in the month of February and April  to perform the Panagal festival for three days. However, the decision was postponed twice for various reasons by the district administration.  In view of Mahashivaratri, the district administration has decided to conduct Panagal festival on February 16.

Tourism department has sanctioned `25 lakh and archeology department has sanctioned `21 lakh for the festival. District administration has made new cement road to Pacchala Someswara temple from the main road. On directions of  district collector,  officials concerned have given the contract to construct toilets, water tank, development of park and compound wall to the museum. 

At present, works are in progress at proposed celebration area.In Panagal, there are Pachala Someshwara Swamy and Chaya Someswara Swamy temples having national identity for uniqueness in construction and historical background. They were built  during Kakatiya and Chalukya kings’ period. 
The state has establised a museum in half an acre on  Pachala Someswaraswamy temple premises where excavated unearthed collections have been stored.
