Eros International announced a sequel to the Anil Kapoor-starrer Nayak (2001), the remake of Shankar’s blockbuster Mudhalvan (1999). CE learns that the script is being written by KV Vijyendra Prasad who has earlier penned films like Baahubali (2015) and Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015).

It will go on floor this year. This film will also introduce fresh characters while retaining some of the old ones including the lead character, Shivaji Rao from the film.

Nayak and Mudhalvan were the most successful political satires at that time. “Prasad has been working on the script for the past five months. The team has bagged the rights from AM Rathnam,” said the source.

The story revolves around the life of an anchor who takes on the challenge of running the state for a day as the  CM. It is unknown if Rani Mukherjee would be cast in the sequel or not.
