Their love for walking has taken shape in the form of a profitable business today. India City Walks, a travel vertical offering definitively planned walking itineraries, with singularly themed experiences, is finding more and more takers among city dwellers. Its founders, Sachin and Nidhi Bansal, are basking in the success of the venture, and walking purposefully on their way to increased brand visibility and more bookings.
Instead of walking from one corner of the city to another, rushing past each site speedily, India City Walks have been designed in a way so that they cater to a particular theme—culture, heritage, arts, nature and others. It allows you to choose one aspect and explore it completely and fully. ‘‘What happens often is that many of the walking tours promise to show you all the significant aspects of the city, but in the bargain, don’t do justice to any. What we do differently is pay attention to the detail. For instance, if you choose the Lost in Time History and Heritage Tour, you’re taken to Mehrauli, Tughlaqabad, Jahapanha, Firozabad, Indraprastha and Shahjahanabad. If you choose the Baolis of Delhi tour, you’re taken to Agrasen ki Baoli, Hazrat Nizamuddin ki Baoli, Rajon ki Baoli, Gandhak ki Baoli and Anangtal Baoli,’’ explains Bansal.
The couple is Delhi-based, with the city being their headquarters, however, the tours can be booked in Agra, Jaipur, Chandigarh and Aurangabad too. ‘‘We believe that every person is different, and keeping their interests intact during the walks is our priority, so the USP of our walks lies in the personalised experiences we give. Depending upon the age group, level of participation, destination and walking objectives, we make customised itineraries,’’ says Nidhi who is preparing for their upcoming food walk on September 14, from 1 pm to 3 pm.
