Let’s face it. Delhi’s singles can either rely on unsafe dating apps or go the matrimonial service way, to end up with people they might call their own. The market is as open as it is closed. That’s what investment banker Himanshu Gupta thought when he moved back to the capital from New York a couple of years ago. He is the founder and CEO of A World Alike, an invitation-only network for single, well-educated individuals who share similar interests and passions. The members are between age 25 and 40, and are verified on LinkedIn and Facebook for social credibility, educational qualifications and financial independence. Co-founder of A World Alike, Devina Badhwar, has a background in psychology and marketing. She is the one who calls up each applicant and verifies their background. After registering with a fee of `2,000, the members are invited to mixers over cocktails and snacks in up-market restaurants. “Ours is an offline venture for singles who have achieved certain milestones and are well-rounded personalities looking for a stimulating conversation in a relaxed environment,” he Gupta.
