India Ready with Manned Mission Into Space

Express News Service

India is ready to launch its first manned space mission, all it now needs is the government’s green signal, said R Umamaheshwaran, Mission Director of GSLV, at NIT-T in Tiruchy. Addressing the alumni, he said ISRO has completed the preparatory and real-time tests in its manned space mission. “As far as the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS) is concerned, we need a series of seven satellites to be put into orbit, of which we have launched four. If the rest three are launched, we can access the navigation system and GPS on our own and need not depend on other platforms. We are now one of the very few nations to have a sustainable cryogenic launch vehicle and a reusable launch vehicle,” the GSLV director said.
