Delhi’s annual polo season comes alive around autumn and ends at the onset of spring. This season ended with the Amity Polo Cup at the Jaipur Polo Ground where the 61st Cavalry convincingly defeated the Action Polo Team. In the other Taj Northern India Championship, Jindal Panthers and Royal Punjab Polo were joint winners.
In the Amity Polo Cup, two women polo players, Monica Saxena and Monica Pattu, were the centre of attention, playing neck-to-neck with their male team-mates. Vishal Chauhan of 61st Cavalry was awarded the ‘Most Valuable Player’. Post-match high tea saw the city’s polo lovers mingling with the players. There was MP Rajeev Shukla, Lakshyaraj Singh of Udaipur’s royalty, Shivani Wazir with her hubby Amir Pasrich, Amity’s Ashok Chauhan and some dilplomats.
Taj Northern India Polo Championship was celebrated with a bash at the Taj Mansingh. Here we saw Naveen Jindal, Samir Suhag, Gitanjali Shah of Mandawa, Maninder Singh, Shamsheer Ali, Dhruvpal Godara and Pratap Singh Kanota hob-nobbing over drinks.
