Callous cops to be trained in sensitivity

NEW DELHI:Delhi Police plans to rope in professors of Jamia Milia Islamia to train officers in sensitivity towards dealing with people and will direct DCPs to conduct a special training programme for the same. This comes after a senior citizen went to the New Friends Colony police station to lodge a complaint about a dumper hitting her vehicle.

A callous staff at the police station asked her to wait for two hours and the duty officer asked her to stamp her complaint herself.

“We found that the duty officer did not perform his duty. He has been suspended. We have asked the faculty of Jamia Millia Islamia to guide officers about their behaviour towards complainants,” said DCP south-east Romil Baniya.

Special commissioner, Law and Order, SBK Singh has written to all Delhi Police districts saying that the incident “has brought a bad name to Delhi Police”.
