THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Governor P Sathasivam will inaugurate the World Blood Donor Day celebrations organised by Terumo Penpol in association with All Kerala Donors Society at Vylopilly Samskrithi Bhavan here on June 14 at 10.00 am.  Colleges, NGOs, motivators and institutions will be honoured for their contribution towards propagating the concept of blood donation. Repeat donors will also be felicitated. Fun events and games will be held as part of the programme.

Every year, on 14 June, countries around the world celebrate World Blood Donor Day (WBDD). The event strives to raise awareness about the need for safe blood and blood products.  The slogan this year is “What can you do? Give blood. Give now. Give often”.

The campaign underlines the role every single person can play in helping others during emergency situations by giving blood. It also focuses on the need for regular blood donation and the importance of setting up a stock to tackle emergency situations.
