Sirkazhi pounded by 44 cm rains in 24 hours, highest in 122 years

A record rainfall of 44 cm in 24 hours, highest in 122 years, pounded Sirkazhi in Mayiladuthurai district on Friday, leaving several parts of the town under knee-deep water. Several parts of Mayiladuthurai district such as Sirkazhi town and dozens of villages from Sirkazhi, Kollidam, Mayiladuthurai and Sembanarkoil blocks became flooded.
