First phase of West Bengal election ends at 91.46% voter turnout

The first phase of the West Bengal elections came to a close with polling percentage for 3.60 crore voters stood at 91.46% on April 23. The voter turnout is among the highest in recent electoral history of the state. This phase covered 152 constituencies in 16 districts of the state, including North Bengal (all 54 seats) + parts of Murshidabad, Nadia, Birbhum, and Hooghly. 1,478 candidates, with 167 women candidates, were in the fray.
