The Supreme Court of India banned a Class 8 textbook over a chapter on corruption in the judiciary on February 26. The textbook was published by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT). A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Surya Kant gave the verdict. The Bench said it appeared to reveal a 'deep-rooted, well-planned conspiracy' to defame and weaken the judiciary. The top court ordered the immediate purge of both physical and digital copies.
