Sirkazhi pounded by 44 cm rains in 24 hours, highest in 122 years

A record rainfall of 44 cm in 24 hours, highest in 122 years, pounded Sirkazhi in Mayiladuthurai district on Friday, leaving several parts of the town under knee-deep water. Several parts of Mayiladuthurai district such as Sirkazhi town and dozens of villages from Sirkazhi, Kollidam, Mayiladuthurai and Sembanarkoil blocks became flooded.

The rainfall is Sirkazhi's highest in 122 years according to meteorological department. ( Special Arrangement)
