Trump says Modi ‘knew he was not happy’ over Russian oil purchases, hints at new tariffs

U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling him “a very good man” and “a good guy,” while hinting at possible trade pressure on India.

Speaking aboard Air Force One while traveling from Florida to Washington DC, Trump said India had tried to keep the United States “happy” amid ongoing discussions on oil trade.

Trump said the U.S. could raise tariffs on India if it does not address Washington’s concerns over Russian oil imports.
