Seventh BLO dies by suicide in West Bengal due to excessive workload

A Booth Level Officer (BLO) died by suicide during the ongoing SIR in West Bengal on January 7. She was identified as an Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) worker, Samprita Chowdhury Sanyal, from Pakurtala in the Englishbazar area of Malda district. The death toll rose to seven in the eastern state since the SIR exercise began on November 4, 2025. The common factor among all deaths is excessive workload and unbearable pressure.
