Mojtaba Khamenei is Iran's new Supreme Leader as war triggered by US-Israel kills 787

Late Ayatollah Khamenei's son, Mojtaba, was elected as Iran's Supreme Leader amidst strikes by Israel. Over 787 people have been killed in Israeli and US attacks in Iran so far in the war. Israeli troops advanced into southern Lebanon with boots on the ground.

The Israeli military warned people to leave 16 towns and villages in South Lebanon. Iran retaliated across the Gulf, disrupting energy supplies and travel. Fuel prices surged across the US and Europe owing to the disruption.
