1,200 students to receive scholarships

VIJAYAWADA: Members of American Progressive Telugu Association (APTA) will distribute scholarships, amounting to `1.5 crore, to 1,200 students at Nova College of Engineering and Technology, Ibrahimpatnam on Sunday.Addressing a press conference on Saturday, College chairman M Krishna Rao said the programme is aimed at providing financial assistance to the poor and merit students who cannot afford money for higher education. The scholarships worth about `10,000 to `25,000 would be awarded those pursuing courses like intermediate, polytechnic, degree, MBA, MCA, engineering and MBBS.

APTA president Gopala Gudapati said the organisation was established in 2008 and has been awarding scholarships since the last eight years. The amount is awarded to students in US dollars. He added that in the first phase, APTA presented scholarship to over 400 students at a programme held at Kakinada on December 10.
