VIJAYAWADA: Tension prevailed at Nidamanuru village on Saturday when villagers staged a protest in front of Government High School opposing the decision of MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi to give away land belonging to a school to a Christian association for construction of a church on the school premises. According to villagers, Vamsi gave permission to the Christian association to construct a church in 20 cents of land in the government school. They further claimed that the land is used by students as a playground and questioned the MLA how could he donate land without villagers’ consideration.
