VIJAYAWADA: The police inquiry into the memento scam at Goddess Kanaka Durga temple on Indrakeeladri took a new turn on Thursday with the police summoning the trader who supplied the mementos to the Devasthanam.

On Sunday, the memento scam was unearthed at Devasthanam after temple executive officer V Koteswaramma suspended four employees including assistant executive officer S Achyutha Ramaiah, record assistant Sunitha, contract employee Sk Syeda and cultural in-charge Gopi for their involvement in the scam. The police have also issued non-bailable warrants after registering a case against them. The four officials purchased 2,000 mementos instead of the actual 1,200, for presenting them to the artistes, who performed during the Dasara festivities.

On Thursday, police served notices on Anusha Handicraft owner Ramesh, who supplied mementos to Devasthanam. As part of their investigation, police would be questioning Ramesh over the price and the number of mementos he supplied to the Devasthanam.
