COLOMBO : Six civilians were killed and two wounded in a suspected Tamil Tiger attack in a village in south Sri Lanka Sunday, defence ministry said

The defence ministry said the civilians "were hacked to death" by a group of Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) guerrillas at Mahagodayaya village in the southern Moneragala district around 7 p.m.

The wounded were rushed to a nearby hospital.
