A policeman was killed and four others were injured today in an attack near Saint Catharine monastery in Egypt's South Sinai, officials said.

CAIRO: A policeman was killed and four others were injured today in an attack near Saint Catharine monastery in Egypt's South Sinai, officials said.     

The armed men targeted the security checkpoint outside the monastery.     

The injured have been transferred to Sharm El-Shiekh International Hospital for treatment, security officials said.     It was not immediately clear who had opened fire.
