Pakistan arrests 16 foreigners for illegal border crossing

The foreigners -- 15 Nigerians and one Yemeni national -- were en route to Europe via Iran, but were arrested on a tip-off, reports Xinhua news agency.

ISLAMABAD: Sixteen foreigners were arrested in Pakistan's Balochistan province for illegally trying to cross the country's border into Iran, authorities said on Tuesday.

The foreigners -- 15 Nigerians and one Yemeni national -- were en route to Europe via Iran, but were arrested on Monday night on a tip-off, reports Xinhua news agency.

The security forces also detained two armed local men in the operation conducted in Turbat district.

Monday's incident comes a day after the police arrested a drug trafficker from Punjab province who was accused of sending people to Europe illegally.
