Syria's army and allied forces captured the city of Mayadeen from the Islamic State group on Saturday.

Damascus: Syria's army and allied forces captured the city of Mayadeen from the Islamic State group on Saturday, state media said, in the latest blow to the jihadist group.

Citing a military source, state media said Syrian troops had killed a large number of IS fighters and were now demining the city, in eastern Deir Ezzor province.
